June brings the 1st day of summer on 6/20, but it is still a great month to keep gardening! Whether you are just getting started or continuing to make changes to your existing garden or raised beds, here are our June tips. You can still plant these melons and vegetables that we listed for April and May: cantaloupe; honey dew melon; watermelon; corn (field or sweet); cucumbers (trellis to protect from direct summer sun); field peas; green beans; lima beans; okra; peanuts; peppers; popcorn; squash; sweet potatoes; tomatoes; and zucchini. In addition to these items, the month of June is the ideal time to plant black eyed peas, cranberry beans, pinto beans, and pumpkins. For these items, we recommend using Daddy Pete’s Cow Manure, Daddy Pete’s Kickin’ Chickin, Daddy Pete’s Lawn & Garden Soil, or Daddy Pete’s Mushroom Compost mixed in with your existing soil.

If you want to continue planting this summer, visit our website at www.daddypetes.com to submit your questions for our “Gardening with Daddy Pete” podcast with Melvin York. We are excited to answer your questions and keep you gardening throughout the summer. Here is a link to our podcast page. https://gardeningwithdaddypete.podbean.com/
